Friendship

So, six months ago, I had a friend who talked crap about me and really hurt me.  I have learned a lot of things about myself and what I believe friendship is all about.  Here is a list of a few things I'm learned:

  1. Be who you are and if someone doesn't like it, you don't need them.  At all.
  2. I am a very loyal person, but hurt me and you are dead to me.
  3. True friendship means helping others
  4. If you have a problem with someone, talk to THEM about it.  Not other people.
  5. Baking, cooking, and creating can help overcome anything.
  6. Whenever I feel crazy because of the situation, I try to find the positive.  I go walking or do another form of exercise, read a book that is complicated enough to make my brain focus, etc.  Distractions are a good thing when it comes to loss.

Now, looking at this list, I realize it is super jumbled, but so am I so I'm okay with it.  I think when you know what a blessing true friendship is, the less likely you are to damage it.  I am really thankful for the true friends I have in my life.  I heard this quote early this month and it really resonated with me:

"Be a true friend. This kind of enduring friendship is like asphalt that fills the potholes of life and makes the journey smoother and more pleasant. It should not be a resource used to gain personal advantage but a treasure to be appreciated and shared."

Here's to being a true friend!  Thanks to all of you that are!
